Bullying is a serious issue that can have long lasting and damaging effects. Bullying can leave a person feeling ashamed, upest, guilty, unsafe, rejected, stressed, anxious and alone. It can negatively impact on self-esteem and in some cases lead to depression.

It is very important to remember that if you are being bullied it is not your fault. Every person is, and has the right to be different. Being bullied is not because of who you are.

Bullying can present in many forms and many different situations. Cyber (e.g. social networking), verbal, social, sexual and physical bullying can occur in any environment including school, home and workplaces. Bullies can be anyone from friends, older/younger peers and boyfriends/girlfriends, to family and extended family members. It is important to remember that bullying in any way, in any context, is unacceptable.

If you, or someone you know is being bullied please tell a responsible adult such as a teacher or a parent. Don’t be a bystander, you can make a difference.
